Our embossed metal charger celebrating the achievements of Christopher Columbus was designed by Francois Michel Louis Tonetti (1863-1920) for the 1893 World's Fair in Chicago by the Hausman Company of Niagara Falls, New York.  16 3/8 inch diameter and 5/8 inches deep.

Surrounding the portrait of Columbus are scenes depicting his exploits with the words EXHIBITION OF CHICAGO / HIS ARRIVAL / DISCOVERY OF AMERICA 1492 / HIS COMING BACK. Signed in the cast, Tonetti Paris 1892.  Apparently crafted from cast copper, or bronze with copper brown patina.
