1894 Handbook of Land & Marine Engines

This is a very collectible instruction book on pre-1900 engines, for both land and sea applications. This copy is a revised 1894 date which is a 9th printing. It is 4.5 x 6.5" size, has a leather cover with a fold over type flap cover. The leather is in fair condition, somewhat fragile, some missing pieces on the edges mostly, the fold-over flab has two rips on the seam but is intact. The gold page edges are intact, the gold has age darkened to some extent, but overall the pages are very clean, not damaged, not marked up, no scribbles. Over 600 pages. The pages have a total of over 100 illustrations or drawings. The pages are well attached to the binding. The spine still has the gold leaf lettering, but the leather around it is fading and somewhat fragile. We have taken steps to preserve the leather by using book restorers treatment which did help to moisturize the leather exterior to some extent. A great reference book, but care in handling should be taken.
