This is a fine oil painting on artist board by the listed artist, Georges (György) Simonka (1916-2001). Signed by the artist "G. Simonka 949 Paris". This lovely impressionist or expressionist work depicts a smiling woman in a long skirt holding a basket of fruit. Note how the shimmering sunlight twinkles through the trees and foliage in the background, and how her skirt is shown in a combination of bright sunlight and shadows. Board measures 13" x 21.75" and frame measures 19.3" x 27.6". Weighs 4.5 lbs. The most recent known exposition of Monka's works was held by the Galerie des Wantiers (VALENCIENNES) in Paris in December 2004 in a show that was entitled simply "Georges Simonka (1916-2001): un Hongrois à Paris, which translates to "An Hungarian in Paris".
