19687 Victorian Burl Walnut Raised Panel Secretary Bookcase Desk
We are pleased to be offering today this beautiful burl walnut raised bevel panel and rosette cylinder secretary desk that dates from the 1880’s in the original condition. It has a real light finish, which isn’t the real dark walnut but a lighter color that looks beautiful as it draws the burl out of the cylinder itself and the bookcase top. It comes with two adjustable shelves, rosettes are intact, the key hole escutcheons are intact, there is no key, ebony brass knobs are on the cylinder roll and the original brass hardware is intact. Someone put a new green felt on, which usually needs to be replaced anyways. The overall size is 40 inches wide, 23.5 inches deep on the base, 11 inches deep on the top, 38 inches wide on the bookcase top, 42 inches high on the bookcase top section, 30 inches high to the writing surface, 44 inches high to the bottom of the bookcase section and 87 inches high overall. When the cylinder is opened, it exposes a double drawer cubby hole interior and the writing surface pulls out. It has the original knobs on the drawers inside. Since it is an Eastlake renaissance style cylinder secretary, it has the circular dove tail. It is a great looking piece that comes in two sections as the bookcase top lifts off the cylinder base.
