Quantity available: 1
We are pleased to be offering today this rare Victorian picture frame molded raised panel leaf carved pull double column roll top desk in what appears to be the original finish dating from the 1880s. It shows numerous nicks and dings. If you aren’t an antique person that likes original finish, we have a professional restoration shop if you would like a quote. I personally would leave it as is because finding one in this condition is difficult. This one came out of an estate is Connecticut. It has hand cut dove tail drawers that sport a hand carved leaf handle and they are all intact. It has picture frame molded and raised panels inside the picture frame molding. It is quite unique. The desk is stamped on the inside, which is rare to find. It says that the desk came from Smith and Company Manufacturers of Bank and Office Furniture. It came from Cornhill Street in Boston around the 1880s. I am sure the stamps tells you the exact date, but I am guessing around the 1880s. It is a really great desk documented with the stamps on the inside. The desk has two file cabinet drawers on each bank with three drawers above them. The left hand bank has dividers in the file drawer, but the right side is wide open. The height of the file cabinet drawer is 9.5 inches tall. The width of the drawers are 12 inches. Between the two columns is 23 inches wide by 25 inches high. It has the pull outs that have green felt on them that I believe has been replaced. It has the green felt on the top as shown in the picture. The overall size of the desk is 55 inches wide, 36 inches deep, 31 inches high to the writing surface and 50 inches high to the top. The interior is beautiful with the pencil trays. Somewhere along the line, the drawer wooden lock bars locks were taken out. The locks are in the drawer if you want to reinstall them. We do not have a key, but a locksmith should be able to make one for you. It is a really nice investment minded desk that was made back in Abraham Lincoln’s time. It is pretty much all original except the felt. Shipping starts at $425 for a driveway delivery in our normal area which is New England. Outside New England it will change, so please contact us prior to purchase with your zip code to obtain a quote for outside of New England for shipping.
