This fabulous hUGE genuine amethyst ( 3CT) is surrounded but genuine seed pearls and it is a real BEAUTY! That part is actually hinged so it swings out a bit. I think it could be that it would let a thin silk scarf slide thru that or you could hang it from a chain. The large 14kt solid gold ring setting has some intricate and detailed metal work that makes it sparkle when it hits the light. The brooch is large ( 1 1/2" ) and is really well made. I don't think I have ever seen a mechanical one like this. It is in EXCELLENT condition and is even prettier than the photos!Vintage and antique items are not mint nor are they perfect.
