A one & only bird comb from Sumba Barat, decorated in the Hai Kara Jangga style where multitudes of animal figures, birds evoke the Upperworld whereas sea creatures are associated with the Underworld. Carved from a single cow/buffalo horn/antler piece, simply stunning. Slight damage to the comb but otherwise a must have for serious collectors!
 Circa 1950. Stand included.
