Magnificent 19th century gilt-bronze figural jardiniere by Henri Picard, c. 1865. Scrolling arms, intricate foliate band with four female heads, foliate garland acanthus leaves details, on quadruped bronze plinth.
Henry Picard, founder and gilder, he worked in Paris from 1831 to 1884, notably for the Emporer Napoleon III. He is listed as bronze maker and gilder in the National Archives because of his participation to the jointure of the Tuileries and the Louvre from 1853 5o 1854.
