Wonderful, heavy American arts and crafts tile depicting a clipper ship by the Wheatley Pottery Co. in six wonderful glazes on a .75" thick yellow clay back hand-incised on reverse with the Wheatley pattern number "1143". The tile is excellent/very good condition with some glaze pops original to the tile at the burgundy pennant at the top of the tile, light wear to the raised lines of the tile at the pennant and at the center wave in the lower part of the tile; and a very very slight lower left corner nick. Soft glazes on a wonderful tile from a first-class pottery. Please write with any questions you may have.
