American Majolica Portrait Tile Brooklyn I.T.T.

$385.00
Quantity available: 1

Brooklyn's International Tile & Trim was in business from 1882-1888, therefore, its tiles are comparatively rare. This tile is carved in fine relief and depicts the symbolic theme of the bounty of Summer. In a classical setting, a man, with his hound at his side, returns to his wife and child, who are seated on steps under the bower of a tree next to a classical building, with bunches of grapes and meat and fowl that he has brought home. The tile is finished in a wonderful summer green, glossy majolica glaze. It is in excellent condition with light glaze rubs to elbow and hair at his brow his right tow and a spot of his tunic as well as to his wife's nose. Please write with any questions you may have.
