Antique American Eastlake Bookcase
$4,000.00
Or Best OfferThis antique bookcase in the American Eastlake style is believed to date from the early 20th century. Measures 87" high by 48" wide by 17" deep. Shelves accomodate books up to 11 1/2" wide. Excellent condition. Professionally refinished by Tom Newman of Hoboken NJ around 1985. Only known restoration is the replacement of the top horizontal molding. This bookcase features an impressive broken arch pediment with a geometric sunburst applied molding. Carved pendant flowers (or bellflowers as they're called) decorate the glazed panel doors. Carved acorn and leaf moldings decorate the front of the bottom drawer. The entire pediment mounts via wooden dowels and may be removed. Original key is missing. Hooks at top and bottom lock the left door in place. Right door does not stay closed, but is easily kept in place with a thin slip of cardboard. Thanks for visiting, and please feel free to contact us with any comments or questions.
