Antique Belgian Art Nouveau Tile - Fabulous Butterfly

$345.00
Quantity available: 1
This tile is one of the stars in the world of Belgian tile. It was made around 1900 by the Societe Anonyme Faiencerie de St. Ghislain. The line of the design is intricate but continuously flowing, the design itself is both literal and abstract, and the glazes are various, subtly shaded and in many gorgeous colors. The tile itself is heavy vitrified porcelain and is .5" thick. It is a rare and sought-after design and in excellent condition: it has an area of underglaze fritting just below the flower in the central translucent celadon and a light bruise to the white line of the flower to its right.
