Antique Bizarre MEDUSA Snake peking glass RING

$210.00
Quantity available: 1

This 1920’s art Nouveau sterling ring with snakes and flowers is symbolic of the drama and mystery of the mythological female who wore the snakes upon her head. Beyond all others she was famed for beauty, and the envious hope of many suitors. Words would fail to tell the glory of her hair, most wonderful of all her charms-- To punish Medusa’s crime Minerva changed the Gorgon's splendid hair to serpents horrible. In the early 1900’s creatures and romanticism combined brought about some of the most unique and beautiful jewelry. This ring has a large setting ( 1" long and ¾" wide) of snakes and lilies that wrap around this peking glass cabochon. It rises up off your finger over ½" tall as if the snakes are rising up out of the ground. Like a beautiful enchanted garden this lovely heavy and well made ring is a size 6 ( it was professionally resized at one time it seems) .
