Chinese Antique Chair (Antique Chinese Pencil Back Chairs, Small). These antique Chinese chairs (RB1031AX and RB1031BX) from the Shanxi region are not an exact matching pair but they are very similar in style, design and finish. The finish is still in a "raw", unrestored condition. The patina is a lovely honey brown. Although they are small, they are still usable. The wood is elm. The back rest is often referred to as a lamp hanger yolk, because an oil lamp could easily be hung by it's handle on the chair's extending back rest yoke. The aprons between the legs are simply carved. There are stretchers between the back and side legs; with the front featuring a foot rest. The seat height from the bottom of the chair is 14.25 inches (36cm). These chairs (RB1031AX and RB1031BX) would be best presented as a pair but they can be sold separately.
