These antique dining room chairs are in oak, and date from the 1890s Victorian era. These are unusual to find, and they appear to be in an older refinished condition. Someone had the chairs reupholstered in a fabric that, in our opinion, leaves a lot to be desired, and in a nice dark oak stain. Back to the upholstery, they heavily cushion these chairs upholstered them attached the upholstery, but then they didn’t put the gimp around the edge on the fabric bottom of the chairs to give it that nice finished look. But it’s very easy to do this yourself. There are a lot of videos online that show you how to upholster chairs and trim chairs like these. It’s very simple, and my daughter did this kind of upholstery for years here in the shop when she was a teenager. It’s a great, fun project. This set consists of two master chairs and five side chairs. These antique dining room chairs are really really nice. We deal in tons and tons of antique furniture over the 50 years we’ve been in antiques, and I’ve never had this particular model before. That does not happen very often. They’re all tiger sawn oak, and once you add the trim around the upholstery, you’ve got a really nice set of chairs for a great price. There are carved knuckles on the arm chairs, tapered, fluted front legs in the Hepplewhite style, and a solid oak back. These antique chairs are larger than usual. The master chairs measure 24 inches wide across the seat, 20 inches deep from from the front to the back, 27 inches across the outside of the arm, and 43 inches from the floor to the top of the chair back, 27 inches from the floor to the arm, and the height to the seat from the floor is 21 inches. The five side chairs measure 19 inches wide, 17 inches deep, to the top of the crest rail on the chair is 40 inches, in the seat is 21 inches from the floor.
