From the series of twelve images created by John Moyr Smith for Mintons China Works illustrating scenes from the books of poetry by Thomson, entitled "The Seasons", here is "Autumn -- Lavinia and Palemon". This series by Mintons is particularly sought after and, as Lockett describes it, was "clearly a prestige product" when it was made. The tile is polychrome and printed in five colors. It is in excellent condition with light edge roughness at upper right and is finished in a fine, glossy glaze. The second tile shown is printed on a warm tan ground rather than the gray of the first tile listed. Please write with any questions you may have.
