Antique Monumental Marble Top Sideboard – Extra Tall #22050
$2,450.00
Or Best OfferWe are pleased to be offering today this unbelievable monumental Victorian marble top sideboard that is 105 inches tall. It dates from the 1880s and came out of a home on the cape of Massachusetts. When it came in, it needed the bottom shoe supports that rest on top of the marble on the back to hold up the first shelf. There is a slight coloration difference, but they are repaired and structurally sound. The overall size is 67 inches wide, 24 inches deep at the base, 37.5 inches high to the marble, 68 inches high from the marble to the top, and an overall height of 105 inches. The mirror glass is 23 inches wide by 35 inches high. This gorgeous extra-large piece of craftsmanship from the Victorian era has three small drawers across the top of the base, three center drawers of various heights, two doors, burl walnut panels, and cast brass hardware. The two outside drawers on the top row had the double handles removed, plugged the holes and a single pull in the center as a replacement. I am unsure why this was done, but it has been done. The escutcheons have been replaced on the two doors as the originals were missing. The columns on the outside edge are carved and diamond notched. It has a stout base with plenty of castors to hold up the support. On top of the base is a white and gray grain marble that is rectangular. The back is a piece of workmanship by itself. Starting from the bottom up, it has a triple raised panel burl panels underneath the shelf support. Above the shelf is a mirror with fruit trees carved into both sides of the mirror. There is plenty of button edge, routed carved shelf supports, pillars, big round balls, and notch molding. There are two cut out fretworks on top with the right-hand side one not being completed as the slight incise carving was not performed and it never had a round button it. The slight difference gives this piece a wonderful story. It has burl panels on a broken arch top with balls in the center. It has a hand carved floral crest on top that oversees the entire sideboard. The only negatives are the mirror has some silver loss in the middle, some finish loss here and there from years of use, hardware on the top drawers and otherwise it is in good condition. It is a great piece for a commercial setting or a Victorian home. Shipping starts at $525 for a driveway delivery in our normal New England delivery area.
