Antique Oil Lamp With Painted Farm Scene
Unavailable
Antique oil lamp with a hand painted farm landscape in creams, tans, and coppery browns on a white glass background. The farm scene depicts a snow-covered barn, a stone bridge, and bare trees on a snowy background against a backdrop of distant mountains. The hand painted glass globe sits atop a copper pedestal on an ornamental cast iron base which has open fretwork and a three-dimensional shell motif. A copper or brass oil reservoir and a brass or copper Climax burner fits inside a steel liner in the globe. The burner knob has "CLIMAX" and "IMP'D" in raised letters, along with a patent date that looks like January, 1890. The top of the oil reservoir is decorated with a raised design with a harvest theme of leaves, vines, flowers, pumpkins or squash, and sheaves of grain. The lamp measures about 11 inches high, including the burner; the globe is about 7.5 inches in diameter. The lamp accommodates a glass chimney with a 3 inch diameter base (not included.) The lamp appears to be in very good condition. The burner does not have a wick but appears to be otherwise intact. The metal parts have some surface wear, oxidation, and aging. The glass globe is intact with no cracks or chips; the painting has light surface wear with some small areas of paint loss. Please refer to the 4 photographs for appearance and condition. Shipping / packaging will be $15.00.
