We are pleased to be offering today this exceptional inlaid rosewood aesthetic movement pier mirror or etagere that dates from the 1870's era. This is an outstanding example of Victorian with a carved crest with oval pale jade green hand-painted patera depicting a classical cherub within a border of leaf tips above gilt drapery swag, flanked by demi lune foliate ears. The central mirror plate within a molded and inlaid frame mounted with four dish-top display shelves, further flanked by narrow mirror plates and bordered by inlaid pilasters headed by gilt bronze classical female busts with dog’s head corbels at the base. The case sides are concave, each with two additional round shelves with floral marquetry panels of ebony and incised carvings. The base of the mirror is concave with a molded shelf above a simulated drawer with central ebonized, gilt and foliate carved cartouche within a decorated panel on a molded plinth. The overall effect of this piece is truly breathtaking and exemplifies the height of mid-Victorian design. The overall size is 70 inches at the widest point by 18 inches deep with the height being 103 inches. It is in excellent original condition with some minor repair to shelf edges. There is very slight finish loss at the base, but overall, in wonderful original condition. Shipping starts at $625 for a driveway delivery in our normal New England delivery area. Outside the normal area will incur additional delivery charges, which could add on especially if you're on the West Coast. Please contact us prior to purchase with your zip code to obtain a quote for additional shipping outside of New England. You are also welcome to pick up at our Oakland, Maine warehouse.
