Antique Russian Amber sterling necklace & earrings

 

Look at the ornate sterling bale that is on this antique russian amber necklace and earings. The color of the amber is so unusual and you can tell this is very old. The pendant is 1 3/4" long ( includes bale) and the ornate silver chain is 23" long and marked Italy  and probably added later. . The sterling earrings are clip on and of really good quality. They measure 3/4" long. From what I understand the amber in both these was originally set into old piece of the Georgian era. In the early 1920's the bale and pendant  had the setting replaced to this sterling one. THe earrings were later made into clip on in sterling.  The bale that is on this pendant is just so fabulous and ornate.
