ANtique Victorian Mourning Jet Chatelaine pin

Imagine this lovely antique brooch surviving all these years with all its history and charm attached to it? This would have held a watch or locket ( see photo with the loop on the back). Each hand cut jet piece of the flower is beveled on the edges. Each petal is set into a rose golden rolled gold fancy bale. The center stone rises up above the rest and it really creates the dimension of this beautiful mourning flower. These brooches would have been worn on a collar or lapel where they could be close to ones heart. The back has a C Clasp and it works well as does the hinge. This measures almost 1" across and it rasies up about 1/2" . There are 2 fine fractures to the jet ( see photo) on the petals and a flea bite. Not easily see unless the light hits it right and you have great eyes. Considering it is well over 100 years old, I am impressed it has survived as well as it has. THere are no identifying marks that I can see. And now for the tedious part that you probably already know: We offer Layaway on all our pieces regardless of which site it comes from.
