Antique English Military Hospital Bed / Chaise Lounge / Daybed

This is a rare hospital bed made by the Ward company of 246 Tottenham Court Road in London. We believe this is a military hospital bed that dates from the early to mid 19th century. It was purchased by our client from an antiques dealer in Belgium over ten years ago. It features its original hardware, including removable hand crank and cranking mechanisms that raise the foot and head of the bed. We've scoured the world for references to the Ward company, and have found very little information about the firm. However, we do know they were a prominent hospital supply company that produced wheelchairs as well as beds. It has its original metal nameplate and the number " 2713 " is stamped into the wooden frame. Measures 69.75" long by 31.75" wide by 16" high. The stretched canvas bedding surface is new.
