This great old bola consists of three long braided straps of rawhide-looking leather, each terminating in a leather sack containing a heavy, round, probably stone or metal weight. The bola is a throwing weapon used for hunting and warfare in many cultures, but popularized in the West by the gauchos of Argentina.
