Black Lacquer Pencil Box with Hippo & Clown Design with Palm Trees. The designs are outlined with gold and parts are filled in with enamal paint. I am not sure if the walking figure is a man, boy, clown or bear. Looks like this was made with children in mind. Anyway the figure is wearing a yellow Fez hat. The box has a key hole but there is no key. The inside has a bracket to hold papers. It is 8.5 inches x 2.5 inches x 1.5 inches. The condition is very good. There are a few imperfections in the lacquer finish. And a very slight amount of wear on bottom edges.
