Our beautiful Tiffany sterling silver basket carries the 550 Broadway mark which was in use from 1854 to 1869, and the holloware style number 1074 dates the piece precisely to 1860-1861. Maker's mark, G, on each side of the holloware number is for Charles Grosjean, the silversmith first based in Boston, circa 1840-1850. This basket has an oval-shaped bowl with scalloped edge and handle, and both the border and foot is decorated with a chased scroll and lappet design. Excellent condition, with no deep scratches and no repairs. There are some minor scratches in the well, and one minor dent near the rim close to the hinge. Weighs 2 lbs. 6.7 oz., 38.7 total ounces, 35.3 troy ounces, 1098 grams. Measures 12.25" long, 9.75" wide, 3.5" high, and 10" high with handle in upright position.
