Ceramic/Pottery/Decorative Handmade TilesW/Siamese Figures

A great pair of handmade decorative ceramic tiles. They have a male and female figure in what looks like Siamese (Thialand) dress. The background is a motled green glaze. The figures are a rich warm red-brown. The clothes and umbrella are a kind of slate blue. The clothes have a relief design similar to a plaid. They each measure approx. 11"X4 1/2". The depth varies from about 1/2" to 5/8" to 3/4". They have wooden blocks glued to the back which has wire running through it making a loop to hang the tile from. There are no marking that I can find. They do have some chips. The male figure has a big chip out of the back top left corner. The male tile does not lay completely flat on a table. The glaze on both tiles is crazed. In certain light, the glaze on the male figure looks to be "cloudy" in places. The green background on both tiles was covered with a type of paint when I acquired them. I believe it was some sort of tempora type paint. It was easily scrped off with a fingernail and soft brush. There are still traces of it on the tiles. They weigh almost 4 1/2 pounds together. Fees quoted for shipping are for priority flat rate/Insured in USA only.
