Offering this old edition of Charles Dickens The Mystery of Edwin Drood, Master Humphrey's Clock, Hunted Down, Holiday Romance, and George Silverman's Explanation all in one small hand made volume, published by Chapman and Hall, London, no date which was typical of English books in that time, this book dates somewhere around 1870-1880's. Marbled hardboards with green cloth spine cover, light wear on edges and marbled boards. Spine is good, no cracks or tears, tiny bit of fraying. Hand cut rag edge pages are for the most part clean, occasional smudge mostly in margins, last photo shows a typical smudge, most are lighter and smaller; due to the uneven cut of pages; some have a small bit of edge wear, like a few corners turned up. No foxing on pages; inside front and back covers have light age soiling, no water marks. No scribbles. The black and white engravings are wonderful, nicely detailed. There are a few pages near back of book that were never cut through on the top edge, so whoever read this book, skipped a few pages when reading it! The small amount of wear this book has only adds character and a story of its own. A wonderful 120+ year old book for your Dickens collection!
