Hand made native basket purse. It is coiled and woven with the designs stamped or painted on the outside. The condition is good for age. The coils are firm and sturdy. The design is faded on one side. The grass "hinge" is only 1 strand. Looks like there should be two. It is just barely holding the lid. There should be a knob of button to complete the closure. The the tight fitting lid does stay in place with out it being latched. I don't know the origin. I thought it may have been Inuit or Eskimo but I was assured by expert that is was not. In any event it is a real neat old basket case or purse.
