Craftsman Low Angle Block Plane

Quantity available: 1
This is an older low-angle plane marked "Craftsman" on the cutter blade. It has an adjustable cutter depth and throat and the knuckle-joint cap cover features. This is a fairly rare plane, or at least this style cap cover. The cap cover is not design to be removed by lifting the rear section like so many other brands I've seen, rather you need to losin the center screw with a screw driver. The cap holds the cutter just fine though. About 90% of the planes original paint is intact, it's bare metal surface are clean. There is a tiny chip and a hairline crack in the corner of the throat area. The crack is not uncommon on these very low angle block planes since the iron is extremely thin in terms of wall stock near the throat, but since there is an angle there and the wall stock gets thicker the further back from the throat, the crack generally will not continue past the point where it is now, under normal use. I've used it on hardwood with no problems. It is a rare very low angle plane, made for Craftsman, by Sargent.
