This wonderful watercolor and pencil on board by Amedeo Simonetti (1874-1922) entitled The Haren's Cobbler.  Measures 21 3/8 by 14 1/2 in (54.2 by 36.8 cm) and is mounted on linen matte in glazed giltwood and gesso period frame measuring 30 by 36 in (76 by 91 cm).  Provenance:  Lot 201, Sotheby's sale of 19th Century European Art Including The Orientalist Sale, New York, October 23, 2008, $25,000 hammer price.

Born in Rome, the artist was a student at the Accademia di Belle Arti in Rome, and member of the group, I XXV della Campagna Romana (the 25 of the Roman Campagna).  Source: Benezit Dictionary of Artists.
