Our fine Grand Tour casting of Diana of Gabbi after Duchemin measures 31.5 in (75.6 cm) and is in good condition.  Pedestal has an engraved nameplate reading "DIANE DE GABIES (Musee du Louvre).

The original work in marble depicting the goddess, Artemis, was discovered in 1792 on the property of the Prince Borghese at Gabii near JRome.  In 1807 the Prince sold the statue to Napoleon and went on display at the Louvre in 1820.
