BEAUTIFUL VERY EARLY HAVILAND LIMOGES DESSERT SET FEATURING COFFEE POT (9"), CREAMER (6") AND SUGARBOWL (7") AS WELL AS CAKE PLATE (10"), 8 DESSERT PLATES (7.5") AND 8 FRUIT BOWLS (4.75"). ALL PIECES IN GREAT CONDITION EXCEPT THE CREAMER HAS SOME DISCOLORATION (MOSTLY INSIDE) AND 2 HAIRLINES AND THE SUGAR BOWL LID HAS A BARELY VISIBLE HAIRLINE. THE GOLD GILDING IS ALL THERE AND THE FLOWERS ARE A BEAUTIFUL SHADE OF TURQUOISE. OVERALL IT LOOKS LIKE IT HAD VERY LITTLE USE. THIS SET DATES TO THE PERIOD 1876-1880 OR EARLIER. THIS SET IS NOT MARKED BUT ALL THE EXACT BLANKS INCLUDING DIMENSIONS CAN BE SEEN IN MARY FRANK GASTON'S COLLECTOR'S ENCYCLOPEDIA OF LIMOGES (3RD ED) ON PAGE 187 FOR THE COFFEE POT(9") CREAMER (6") AND SUGAR BOWL (7"). ACCORDING TO THE GASTON ENYCLOPEDIA MENTIONED, ON PAGE 15 IT STATES "MOST LIMOGES FACTORIES DID NOT ROUTINELY MARK THEIR PRODUCTS UNTIL THE LATTER QUARTER OF THE 19TH CENTURY".
