Offering this unusual antique cast iron bookends measuring 4 1/4 inches wide x 3 1/2 inches tall. Ornate raised detailed Egyptian Sphinx surrounded by tall columns and floral stems. Above on the pontil area of this frame is the winged sun symbol. Excellent details, wonderful patina. Fine condition, no cracks or chips; bottom felt had deteriorated beyond repair so it has been replaced with new black velvet. No markings as to maker; possibly Bradley & Hubbard. Perfect for your victorian, art nouveau decor as the art deco Egyptian revival style decorations were very popular in the to early 1900's due to the discovery of Tutenkahmen's tomb. Great conversation pieces for your library or office!
