Our exceptional pair of gilt bronze sconces in the French Empire style, circa 1810, feature the patinated figures of neoclassical females holding two candle arms with drapery motif, standing upon round pedestals decorated with a lion's pelt, set upon corbels affixed to wall plates.  With modern sockets and wiring and ready for installation.  Each in good condition, with scratches, rubbing wear and oxidation to the gilded surfaces.

Provenance:  Mallett Antiques, London, June 1988; Collection of Mr. & Mrs. John H. Gutfreund, New York, NY.  Mr Gutfreund was the CEO of Salomon Brothers.
