English Copper Luster Jug With Animals

$325.00
Quantity available: 1

Well, we've all heard of pink elephants, and some of us have seen a few, but here is a charming couple of other rosy critters. Flanking this handsome, generous copper luster jug are a pink luster spotted dog and a champion pink luster sheep, both in very high relief. Between them, under the jug's lip, is displayed a scrolly-legged epergne overflowing with wildly colored flowers. The copper top and bottom sections offer bold contrast to the blue ground of the central frieze. Condition is very fine, the only flaws being some chips to the underside of the base and slight flaking to the enamels, as well as normal light wear to the pink beasties. A fine example of a ware that is too often quite dowdy. English, circa 1830. Approximately seven inches high by eight inches in diameter at the widest point. (For another example of this ware, see Trocadero 16173.)
