One from the series of twelve issued by Wedgwood, c. 1882, the design variously ascribed to Thomas Allen, but probably Helen J.A. Miles, illustrating characters from Shakespeare's "A Midsummer Night's Dream." A wonderful series to collect. This tile depicts "Mustard" and is printed in sepia on buff clay and is in excellent condition but for some glaze bubbling original to the tile; several underglaze skips as shown; the white spot at the lower left corner is under the glaze, occurring during the transfer of the image, and is original to the tile.
