Fifties Spartus Western Horse Mantle Clock

Unavailable
Vintage retro Spartus mantle or table clock, patented in 1938 and produced in 1952, with Western horse theme. This mid-century piece has an electric clock, with a second hand, in a molded metal casing, featuring a horseshoe around the clock dial, and a fence at the bottom with a horse on each end. The clock is mounted on a natural wood base, along with a figure of a horse in ornamental Western bridle and saddle. The thick wood base consists of two pieces, notched and glued together. The metal in the clock and the horse appears to be a non-magnetic alloy, brass colored with some copper highlights. The clock dial appears to be a light colored metal, with tiny circular ridges and raised brass numbers. "SPARTUS" is on the upper front of the dial, with "MADE IN USA" below the 6. Domed glass covers the clock's dial. The clock and the horse are attached to the base with nuts and bolts. Stamped in red on the bottom is Oct 1 1952. In raised letters on the back metal cover of the clock is "USE ON A.C. ONLY, 60 CYCLE 115 V. 3.1 W. MADE BY GALTER PRODUCTS CO., CHICAGO, ILL., LIC. BY WESTINGHOUSE ELEC. CORP., PAT. NO. 2140365". The clock measures approximately 11.25 inches high, 17 inches wide, and 5 inches deep; it weighs about 6.25 pounds. The clock is in very good condition. The clock runs very well and the piece is very sturdy. The metal parts are intact, with some suface wear and discoloration. The wood base shows some shallow nicks, scratches, and wear. Please refer to the 4 photographs for appearance and condition. Shipping / packaging will be $15.00.
