General Tire I Said A Recap Not a New Cap Ad 1944 This is a February 26, 1944 advertisement. It is a nice color ad from The General Tire and Rubber Company of Akron. Ad shows a man standing in the open door holding a hat box from a Johnson Hat Shop and the lady is saying, I said get a re cap not a new cap. Could this be her husband. Ad reads, she is right. The plain fact is that the tire crisis is still acute, because military needs get first call. In mint condition.
