Greek Cretan dagger Bichaq mounted in Sterling Silver. Crete 20th century.

DETAILS: In characteristic for Turkish Ottoman Balkan “Bichaq “form, the bone hilt enclosed by Sterling Silver straps, and ferule worked in repousse low relief with foliage and Greek inscription. mounted with recurved, clip point, single edged steel blade etched with Greek script.

Solid Sterling Silver scabbard lined inside with a wooden insert, richly adorned in repousse, and chiseled with figures and foliage. End of the scabbard stamped with 925 sterling silver mark.

MEASUREMENTS:

Overall length with the scabbard: 27.5 cm (10.83 inches).

Overall length without scabbard: 22 cm (8.66 inches).

CONDITION: with signs of age and usage.
