Hand Made Woven 100% Wool Blanket Momostenango, Guatemala 80" x 54" Dark Blue with Burros

Hand Made Woven 100% Wool Blanket from the high mountain village of Momostenango, Guatemala. This wonderful 100% Wool blanket is a treasure. It measures 80" x 54"  with a 5" fringe on each end and is in excellent condition. The colors are a  stuning dark blue, blue and natural white figures of burros, ducks, people and a Queztal Bird in the center.  . The blankets are thick soft and incredibly warm to fend off the nighttime cold in the highlands. This one is not new and was used on top of a bed but the condition is excellent .  . On my recent trip to the Guatemalan Western Highlands I purchased several of these wonderful blankets directly from the weaver. In Mayan society it is the men who weave the wool blankets. It is a sad fact that they are making less and less hand woven items. As the Mayan culture is becoming "modernized" the old traditions of hand woven textiles of natural fibers is disappearing.

The dimensions and weight posted below are the approximate size of the packaging to calculate the shipping.   Please refer to the description for the actual size of the item.  The shipping quoted includes the handling, insurance and delivery confirmation.  To give you an idea on shipping of a particular item please refer to the size and weight.   I ship from Seattle, Zip Code 98103.      Most items will be sent USPS Priority Mail despite the website's auto calculation for FED EX Ground.  (Currently that is the only auto calculator offered via GoAntiques at this time)

 I try to give you the lowest shipping as possible but still make sure the item is secure.  It is all about size, weight and distance.  Fragile items need to be packed in a box with a lot of padding.   The box needs to be much larger than the item being shipped.   The cardboard box with the packaging material add to the weight and dimensions. 

Large items like furniture need to be picked up in person.  Or your own arrangements can be made to have a shipping company pick up the items.    That is only after your payment has been made or cleared.    In rare circumstances I can deliver within the greater Seattle –Tacoma area for a modest fee.

The shipping quoted includes the handling, insurance and delivery confirmation.     If you feel the shipping is too high contact me to discuss options.  Please keep in mind that I am locaed in Seattle, Washington.  Shipping rates with USPS and FED Ex increase the further east the package travels.  To avoid sticker shock with the shipping cost most of the item for sale have the shipping weight posted.  You can go to the USPS caclulator  to figure out a rougth estimate of costs.  Use my zip code 98103 and add your zip code with  the weight .   Most items will be sent Priority Mail.   

If you buy and pay for an item with a shipping amount stated , you will be contacted with a request to send the balance owed. Unless otherwise stated shipping costs will be determined at the time of sale. The cost of shipping usually depends on where you live. If you want a shipping quote please email me with your City, Country, Zip Code or other postal codes. I can usually get back to you within a day.

Items will be shipped within 1-5 days after payment is received.  I ship using Frist Class,  Priority Mail and International. I also use UPS & FEDEX Ground for heavier items. For very large pieces I can use Greyhound Bus lines. I use Delivery Confirmation and tracking for USPS shipments within the USA only. Insurance is required on all shipping.  With large items I will need to review with you the options based on your location.
