Johan Barthold Jongkind (1819–1891) was a Dutch painter and printmaker who worked primarily in France. He is considered a precursor to the Impressionist movement and was deeply admired by Claude Monet. Jongkind specialized in landscapes and marine scenes, often with atmospheric skies and subtle light transitions, much like what we see in your painting.
