Hat Pin Holder/Deco Style/Encrusted With Gold
$69.00
A beautiful art deco style hatpin holder. It has pretty apple green color painted designs that have been outlined, painted with gold and lots of gold beading outlining the design. The design is floral and foliate in nature. It has 17 holes. It stands approx. 6" tall and is approx. 3" across the base. There are no marks that I can see. If you look really closely, there are flaws in the glaze from the original manufacturing. There is some wear to the gold around the top edge. I have found no chips or cracks. The base color of the glaze is a sort of light creamy taupe color. The color is a bit hard to describe. There are some tiny dark specks on or in the glaze. I think it is porcelain. I do not know if it is a period piece or a reproduction. I have no way of verifying it's age. I do know it is not "new". There is a bit of wear around the top and you can see on the bottom where it has sat on a hard surface. The gold is probably real, about 10k. The beading is done very nicely. FOOTNOTE: I have been contacted by someone who is very knowledgable about hatpin holders and he says this particular one is a known reproduction. It is called the gold "Nippon" Repro. In fact, it is so lovely, he was "fooled" by it and had purchased one like it at an antique show. It was listed in the hatpin holder's club newsletter as one to be aware of or he would not have known. It really is lovely. I have adjusted the price to reflect this knowledge. In any case, it is still very lovely and usable. Shippiong fees quoted are for priority/insured in USA.
