Large antique Medieval 11th - 12th century A.D. (391 – 597 AH). Islamic Central Asian Ghaznavid dynasty, Bamiyan, splashed glaze sgraffito pottery bowl of deep rounded form with flat rim standing on a short foot. Interior decorated with incised decorations of four lobed petals and vertical lines in beige/white underglaze with green and brown decorative colors in splash design.
MEASUREMENTS:
Diameter: 33 cm (12.99 inches).
Height: 8.5 cm (3.35 inches).
CONDITION: Repaired clean breaks, small areas of restoration, chips, and small losses of glaze.
Bamiyan ceramics belongs to a group of wares reportedly found at the site of Shahr-i Ghulghula at Bamiyan in Afghanistan. While these works are usually described as "Bamiyan," there is no archaeological evidence that they were produced there.
