Our large porcelain dress box in the French rococo Louis XV/XVI style measures 12 1/4 inches wide, 9 inches deep and 4 3/4 inches tall. It features extensive hand-painted and gilt decorations, including top depicting seated lovers in a pastoral setting.  Signed "Lauque".  Underside has an old Brazilian consumption tax stamp, reading "CONSUMO BRASIL", dating from the second quarter of the twentieth century that carries a value of 2000 Reis (Real, the Brazilian currency).  There is also a very old paper merchant's label with handwriting that reads in part, "1 Bonnbonier" for bonbonniere, the french term for a Bonbonnière or box for bonbons (favors).  In good condition. There are light scratches and rubbing wear.
