Our bronze after Hippolyte Francois Moreau is entitled Le Reveil (The Awakening).  The figure is mounted on a round pedestal and turns by hand to enjoy the sculpture from any angle.  28 by 8 by 7.5 inches.

In good condition, with scratches, nicks and rubbing wear, all consistent with age and good care.

The son of the renowned sculptor Jean-Baptiste Moreau, he studied in Paris under François Jouffroy.  From 1863 to 1914 the artist regularly exhibited at the Paris Salon.  He won awards for his sculpture at the Universal Expositions in 1878 and 1900.
