This drawing of a dramatic female central figure in a flowing gown and holding a cockle shell being observed by two others is full of the beautiful and mysterious grace for which this great artist was admired throughout the world. Born in Argentina and reared in Milan, Fini lived most of her life in Paris, where she created a large oeuvre of drawings, paintings, stage and costume designs, etc. Exciting and artistically influential in life, her creativity still illuminates today, years after her death at 87. Pencil and pen. Image approximately 15 inches by 9-1/2 inches, inscribed lower right-hand corner, "Pour Corinne Leonor Fini." Conservation mounted with fine gilt frame. Purchased:Paris, 1979.
