Lincoln Monument Springfield Post Card This is a nice color, post card of Lincoln's Tomb and Monument in Springfield, Ill. Political category On the front it reads, Exterior and Interior of Lincoln Monument, Oak Ridge Cemetery, Springfield, Illinois. On the back it reads, Lincolns Tomb was dedicated on October 15, 1874. The base is 72 feet square and the obelisk rises 128 feet in the air. When the monument was rebuilt in 1900 Lincolns body was placed in reinforced cement and stone six feet from the inner north wall of the north end of the tomb and ten feet below the floor and there it remains.
