This tremendous gilt bronze chandelier, circa 1900, in the manner of the important Louis XVI period bronzier, Pierre Gouthiere (1740-1806), features 18 candles with modern sockets and wiring, a central fluted stemp with cap decorated with acanthus leaves, bellflower chains and foliate-cast arms terminating in eagle heads at the stem.  Measures:  27 in (68.6 cm) in diameter and 38 in (96.5 cm) tall.  Overall good condition, with oxidation and rubbing to the gilded finish and some bends to the candle arms, consistent with age.
