This is sterling ( weighs 18.8 grams)chatelaine tool has a two sided knife like piece that might have been used as a letter opener, page turner or a knife like tool inside the flat tube. The slider is on the side and this is really thin. It measures 3 1/3" x 5/8" and is 1/4" thin. Probably from thelate 1800's this is a really neat old piece with a shell motif at the top. It has not been polished so you can see that the age had brought wonderful old patina to it. It works well and is in very good condition.
