This is a nice clean quality made egg- beater type single speed hand drill that was not marked but is the same as MILLERS FALLS CO. MILLERS FALLS MASS MADE IN U.S.A. NO. 5 similar in comparison to the metal section.  The urn shaped hollow handle is threaded so there is a place to store jobber drills inside, some included that are in new condition. The urn handle is rather rare and I believe it was a No. 5D model most likely made for a tool distributor for retail sales according to the distributor's design. This one is 13.25 inch long overall, and has a 3/16 inch diameter chuck capacity. The handles are rosewood or similar wood, and still in very nice condition, snug fitting, minimal wear. Good solid side handle also. The larger end handle is threaded on the cap, and there is room to store the included drills in the handle for storage. This one has 80% paint on the cast steel, is not rusty, clean and oiled. The gears and all the spindles are in great shape. The chuck on this style drill is 3 jaw type, gravity jaws, so the jaws spread open by turning the threaded chuck and holding the chuck upward where the jaws fall open by gravity. A good solid tool, ready to use or display! We have not seen a No. 5D before, we assume this model to be rare!
